The end times is a crucial subject in the bible. Many of the prophetic books in the Old Testament (Isiah through Malachi) address the signs of the end times. In the New Testament, multiple passages address them, including Matthew 24: 4-44, Luke 17:20- 37, 1 Thessalonians 4:14, and the book of Revelation.
When it comes to when the world will end, Jesus said no one knows the date or time apart from the Father. A summary of the words of Jesus in Mathew 24 show that some signs of the end times include:
- Kingdom raising against kingdom and nation against nation.
- Wars and rumors of wars.
- Earthquakes
- Famines
- False prophets coming in the name of Jesus.
- The Gospel preached throughout the world.
- A great tribulation.
- Persecution of new believers.
- The abomination of desolation, which means a world leader who proclaims to be God.
It’s worth noting that Jesus Christ prophesied throughout His ministry.The Son of God indicated that we should be able to recognize these signs.
Daniel understands the signs of the end times and confessed that he didn’t understand how long it will take before those astonishing things (signs) come to happen. We find God answering him in Daniel. 12:9. From this, we can understand that wisdom comes from reading the word of God. The wisdom obtained from the word of God equips us with discernment, and we can see the signs of the end of the world and understand them.
Jesus knew that some of the signs will happen when the body of Christ is still on earth. Therefore, his prayer was not that God should take his followers out of the world, but that He should keep them safe from evil( John 17:15 ).
Take courage, brethren! Even though things may turn dark as night, there is hope in Jesus because He prayed for His body “the church” to overcome all this. The following are some end-time warning signs we should not ignore:-
Corruption
This means dishonesty or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery. Many countries are faced with this menace, starting from the leaders. For instance, in the U.S.A one sign of corruption in the term deep state. The U.S. president blames an unholy Alliance of American diplomats and bureaucrats for the resistance to his policies. This term usually conjures an Illuminati, which is the real power in secret and is made up of military leaders, criminals, spies, and businessmen. To Trump, a deep state means the civil servants who have been in government for many years. In China, corruption is punishable by death. Other countries have failed to develop well due to corruption.
Corruption is also happening in the churches and among the born again Christians. In 2 Tim. 3:1-5, we see Timothy explaining the end-time phenomenon. In verse three, Timothy states that men will lack natural affection and be dishonest.
Moral Decay
Moral decay has also occurred in our society, with many crimes such as murder, abortion, rape, and robbery happening daily. In 2 Timothy 3:1-4, Paul writes that time of difficulty will come in the last days. People will be lovers of money more than lovers of God. They will be arrogant, proud, disobedient to their parents, abusive, unholy, ungrateful, reckless, and slanderous. Since people have always been all these things, we can assume that in the last days, these traits will take place at a higher level.
Preparation for a one-world government (666)
Psalms 2:2 gives a clear picture that all nations of this world will try to merge into one-world government to fight against God. This will be done to set a stage for the Antichrist, who will come with deceptive tools to derail the world. In the past, many republics have tried to have global domination, but none has succeeded in forming a one-world government. Let us look at a few of them:
- Alexander the Great conquered Greece and India but couldn’t unite the countries.
- Augustus Caesar conquered Spain, France, Italy, England, Rome, and Turkey but couldn’t put together a one-world government.
- Adolf Hitler promised a 1,000-year rule, but he only ruled for only 12years.
- Nikita Khrushchev hit the desk with his shoes to emphasize that he was to take over the world. All this never came to pass!
From the look of things, the current Coronavirus pandemic has hit the world hard, and it is clear proof that it’s the foreshadowing of the rise of the Antichrist. It’s creating the attention of every world government to try and work together to get a lasting solution to fight against it “COVID-19”. The United Kingdom’s prime minister stated that governments have to accept Covid-19 as a global emergency; and that it requires a global response.
The world has become more interconnected than it has ever been in the past. We can easily communicate through online platforms and telephone, and send money from one country to another easily. This is a sign of the preparation for a one-world government (666).
The Mark of the Beast
The book of Revelation points out that God has an emblem that identifies those who worship Him, Satan too has his emblem that identifies those who support him. The mark of the beast will be placed on the forehead or the back of the palm. The mark of the beast could be:
- Bar code reader on items
- A tattooed number
- A computer-chip under the skin
We need to understand here is that the beast is just another name for the Antichrist, and it will rise from the sea (water). The sea symbolizes people or populated areas. So it will arise from amidst nations of the known world. In the book of Revelation, John states that during this time, people without the mark of the beast will not be able to sell or buy anything.
Earthquakes in many places
Earthquakes have hit the world of late in nations like Indonesia, Haiti, Turkey, and China. According to Mark 13:7-8, these will be but the beginning of birth pains. This means that they were only foretastes of what would come. The earthquakes that are yet to come will rock the foundations of the earth and do so in different countries at once.
The book of Revelation mentions the earthquakes five times, and the final quake corresponds with the 7th bowl of God’s wrath. The writer describes it as a great and mighty earthquake that has never occurred on earth before.
These are just some signs of the end times. We must read God’s word so that it remains in abundance in us. This way, we can discern false teachings and be in a position to oppose them. We should also keep an open eye on the current world events and give an ear to God’s servants for their insights into the end times.
