    Kingdoms of Glory; “THE FIRST RESURRECTION”; Who and When?

    Listen to this article

    To truly understand the coming of the First Ressurection, and who will be a part of it. You need to understand what are the “Kingdoms of Glory.”

    The 7th seal will be opened about the year 2033 in which we will enter into the New Millenium; then, the 1st Trumpet will begin to sound, and the First Resurrection will start to take place.

    Kingdoms of Glory

    Overview

    Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all people will be resurrected. After we are resurrected, we will stand before the Lord to be judged according to our desires and actions. Each of us will accordingly receive an eternal dwelling place in a specific kingdom of glory. The Lord taught this principle when He said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions” (John 14:2).

    There are three kingdoms of glory: the celestial kingdom, the terrestrial kingdom, and the telestial kingdom. The glory we inherit will depend on the depth of our conversion, expressed by our obedience to the Lord’s commandments. It will depend on the manner in which we have “received the testimony of Jesus” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:51; see also Doctrine and Covenants 76:74, 79, 101).

    Celestial Kingdom

    The celestial kingdom is the highest of the three kingdoms of glory. Those in this kingdom will dwell forever in the presence of God, the Father, and His Son Jesus Christ. This should be your goal: to inherit celestial glory and to help others receive that great blessing as well. Such a goal is not achieved in one attempt; it is the result of a lifetime of righteousness and constancy of purpose.

    The celestial kingdom is the place prepared for those who have “received the testimony of Jesus” and been “made perfect through Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, who wrought out this perfect atonement through the shedding of His own blood” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:51, 69). To inherit this gift, we must receive the ordinances of salvation, keep the commandments, and repent of our sins. For a detailed explanation of those who will inherit celestial glory, see Doctrine and Covenants 76:50–7076:92–96.

    In January 1836, the Prophet Joseph Smith received a revelation that expanded his understanding of the requirements to inherit celestial glory.

    The heavens were opened to him, and he saw the celestial kingdom. He marveled when he saw his older brother Alvin there, even though Alvin had died before receiving the ordinance of baptism. (See Doctrine and Covenants 137:1–6.) Then the voice of the Lord came to the Prophet Joseph:

    “All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God;

    “Also all that shall die henceforth without a knowledge of it, who would have received it with all their hearts, shall be heirs of that kingdom;

    “For me, the Lord will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts” (Doctrine and Covenants 137:7–9).

    Commenting on this revelation, the Prophet Joseph said, “I also beheld that all children who die before they arrive at the years of accountability are saved in the celestial kingdom of heaven” (Doctrine and Covenants 137:10).

    From another revelation to the Prophet Joseph, we learn that there are three degrees within the celestial kingdom. To be exalted to the highest degree and continue eternally in family relationships, we must enter into “the new and everlasting covenant of marriage” and be true to that covenant. In other words, temple marriage is a requirement for obtaining the highest degree of celestial glory. (See Doctrine and Covenants 131:1–4.) All who are worthy to enter into the new and everlasting covenant of marriage will have that opportunity, whether in this life or the next.

    Terrestrial Kingdom

    Those who inherit terrestrial glory will “receive of the presence of the Son, but not of the fulness of the Father. Wherefore, they are bodies terrestrial, and not bodies celestial, and differ in glory as the moon differs from the sun” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:77–78). Generally speaking, individuals in the terrestrial kingdom will be honorable people “who were blinded by the craftiness of men” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:75). This group will include members of the Church who were “not valiant in the testimony of Jesus” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:79). To learn more about those who will inherit terrestrial glory, see Doctrine and Covenants 76:71–80, 91, 97.

    Telestial Kingdom

    Telestial glory will be reserved for individuals who “received not the gospel of Christ, neither the testimony of Jesus” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:82). These individuals will receive their glory after being redeemed from spirit prison, which is sometimes called hell (see Doctrine and Covenants 76:84Doctrine and Covenants 76:106). A detailed explanation of those who will inherit telestial glory is found in Doctrine and Covenants 76:81–90, 98–106, 109–112.

    Perdition

    Some people will not be worthy to dwell in any kingdom of glory. Instead, they will be called “the sons of perdition” and will have to “abide a kingdom which is not a kingdom of glory” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:3288:24). This will be the state of “those who know [God’s] power and have been made partakers thereof, and suffered themselves through the power of the devil to be overcome, and to deny the truth and defy [God’s] power” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:31; see also Doctrine and Covenants 76:30, 32–49).

    Many may call the First Resurrection, the Rapture; the proper name is the “FIRST RESURRECTION.”

    Revelation 20:4–6 – New Testament – Source Bible

     4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them. Judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

     5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. So this is the first resurrection.

     6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the First Resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years.

    The First Trumpet Sounded

    The first Trumpet Sounded is the beginning of “The First resurrection. But not everyone is caught up at the same time. And will continue over the next two Trumpets, and all of this will be a part of the First Resurrection

    Bruce R. McConkie said; There are Two great resurrections await the inhabitants of the earth: one is the first resurrection, the resurrection of life, the resurrection of the just; the other is the second resurrection, the resurrection of damnation, the resurrection of the unjust. (John 5:28-29; Rev. 20; D. & C. 76.)

    But even within these two separate resurrections, there is an order in which the dead will come forth. Those being resurrected with celestial bodies, whose destiny is to inherit a celestial kingdom, will come forth in the morning of the first resurrection. Their graves shall be opened, and they shall be caught up to meet the Lord at his Second Coming. They are Christ’s, the firstfruits, and they shall descend with him to reign as kings and priests during the millennial era.

    (D. & C. 29:13; 43:18; 76:50-70; 88:97-98; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 20:3-7.)

    “And after this, another angel shall sound, which is the second trump; and then cometh the redemption of those who are Christ’s at his coming; who have received their part in that prison which is prepared for them, that they might receive the gospel, and be judged according to men in the flesh.” (D. & C. 88:99.) This is the afternoon of the first resurrection; it takes place after our Lord has ushered in the millennium. Those coming forth at that time do so with terrestrial bodies and are thus destined to inherit a terrestrial glory in eternity. (D. & C. 76:71-80.)

    At the end of the millennium, the second resurrection begins. In the forepart of this resurrection of the unjust, those destined to come forth will be “the spirits of men who are to be judged, and are found under condemnation; And these are the rest of the dead; and they live not again until the thousand years are ended, neither again, until the end of the earth.” (D. & C. 88:100-101.) These are the ones who have earned telestial bodies, who were wicked and carnal in mortality, and who have suffered the wrath of God in hell “until the last resurrection, until the Lord, even Christ the Lamb, shall have finished his work.” (D. & C. 76:85.) Their final destiny is to inherit a telestial glory. (D. & C. 76:81-112.)

    Finally, in the latter end of the resurrection of damnation, the sons of perdition, those who “remain filthy still” (D. & C. 88:102), shall come forth from their graves. (2 Ne. 9:14-16.) “Then is the time when their torments shall be as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flame ascendeth up forever and ever. Then is the time that they shall be chained down to everlasting destruction, according to the power and captivity of Satan, he having subjected them according to his will. Then, I say unto you, they shall be as though there had been no redemption made; for they cannot be redeemed according to God’s justice; and they cannot die, seeing there is no more corruption.” (Alma 12:17-18.) The above article should help clarify a little about the timing of things. As you read my articles, the timing of events will become more apparent. The First Trumpet will sound some were around the year 2033.

    What is important is your relationship with Heavenly Father. If the timing is off, it’s off. So what could cause the timing to be off slightly would be the calendar could be off by a few short years. Even though I understand prophecy well, there is a lot I still learning. Please do not go by dates, but rather by events. Even then, our relationship with God is what is essential. Many worry about dates when one should be focused on the relationship with God. Please pray every day with all your heart, mind, and spirit. Please read and study the scriptures, love one another as Jesus loves you, and then amazing things will happen if you sincerely seek that which is pure, heavenly Father, Jesus Christ.

    You can know that I care as well, or I would not be writing these articles to help in any way I can. God bless you, and please do something that will make a difference in people’s lives. We can make a difference. For many who may have a hard time believing the truth, I invite all to study and pray to seek the real truth. Ask God and test all things; I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen, God Bless You!

    If you have any questions, I am here to help you the best that I can. Would you mind reading all articles so that the puzzles will come together in your mind?
