    Positive Messages From The Scriptures

In troubled times it is easy to assume the worst is to come. However, we must not forget that the scriptures are full of positive messages. As long as we follow the teachings of Christ, we will find peace and meaning in life. As most of you are reading this, there is a global pandemic causing havoc and putting fear in the eyes of our communities. We have all heard the news reports regarding death and the shortage of everyday household supplies. In times like these, it is essential to remember that God has a plan for us.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

What does this scripture mean? It is okay to have a different view of the scriptures from others as the overall message should remain the same. The Lord is telling us that he has a plan for each of us as individuals. His plan is not to cause us harm but to move us forward to a better life. In current times like these, when our lives have come to an abrupt halt, and our future seems unsure, we should trust in the Lord’s word.

In times like these, we may find ourselves feeling different than usual. This could be due to emotions caused by uncertainty or from the lack of social interaction. In addition, we are all missing loved ones, such as our friends and families. This change of life was brought upon us so quickly that most of us are still struggling with the thought of when we will be reunited with our loved ones again. As a result, we are sharing feelings of sadness and grief and fear and helplessness.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

In this scripture, the book of Romans explains that nothing in this world can divide us from Christ’s grace. We, as a community, need to trust in the word of the Lord and believe that he has a plan for us during these hard times. The feeling of uncertainty can leave us strangled by our thoughts. We are uncertain of how we will feed our families as well as how we will maintain the roof over our heads. We are unsure of when our lives will return to normal. Perhaps our lives may never be what we once knew them to be.

The beauty of the world is that it is always changing. We cannot do much to control the always-changing world we live in. Although we have no control over world events, one thing remains common amongst them all. That is, our faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, will get us through these times. We can look to the scriptures to find messages of being a positive influence during troubled times.

“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

Our actions are contagious. If we show that we have faith and trust in the Lord, our neighbors will follow us. Especially in times like these, people lose sight of what is essential. We need to remind them to stay true to their faith and lead by Christ’s example. We know that God and the angels will guide us to our final destination. We know that Christ loves us and would do us no wrong. We must trust in the word of the Lord and remember that God has a plan for each of us.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is doubleminded and unstable in all they do.” James 1:5-8

It is essential to stay true to yourself and the Lord. Those that demand something from Christ will not be granted what they desire. On the other hand, the Lord rewards those loyal to him and believes in his word. If you ask something of the Lord, you must understand that your prayers will be answered and never doubt God’s plan for you. If you do this, you will find the answers you seek. Remember that it is your responsibility to spread the word of Christ. May God be with you; have a great day!
