    The End Times

When we read the headlines, it is clear that this world is on a downward slide. Natural disasters, political tension, and disease outbreaks are increasing or rather escalating.

Believers seem to be parting away with faith, which has caused us to wonder whether these signs are part of biblical prophecy. I can confidently say that we are closer to tribulation and rapture than ever before.

Mathew 24:6-6 tells us, “And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you are not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrow.”

In recent years, war has broken out such as the Ukraine war, the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, the continuous war between Israel and Palestine, and the U.S invasion of Iraq. Floods, plagues earthquakes and fires have also been seen everywhere. The novel coronavirus broke out in Wuhan China and spread throughout the world. There was an outbreak of locust that occurred in East Africa resulting in many countries facing famine.

There were several forest fires in 2019 in Australia while Canada was hit by a huge storm and Indonesia suffered a flood. Earthquakes have been experienced in Southern Cuba, Turkey, and other places. All these signs had been prophesied and it seems the prophecy is being fulfilled.

Revelation 6: 12 tells us,” And I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal, and, see, there was a great earthquake; the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.” Joel 2:30–31 says, “And I will show wonders in the heavens and the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah comes”. Recently there have been cases of the moon turning blood red. For example, between 2014 and 2015, four “blood moons” occurred and in 2018, “there was a super blue blood moon”. It is said that this instance appears only once every 150 years.

It was also prophesied that the sun would turn black and this has been seen with the numerous solar eclipses including the eclipse in Singapore in December 2019. It also happened in Chile the same year. The prophecy about the appearance of many celestial anomalies is fulfilled in these phenomena.

The spread of the gospel is a sign of end times. In Mathew 24.14, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then shall the end come.” After Jesus was resurrected, he told his disciples to go into the world and preach the gospel to every human being. When He ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit took the lead and lead those who follow God to witness Him. Nowadays, Christianity has spread through the entire world and many countries have adopted it as a state religion. Even in China where the ruling party is atheistic, the government has accepted the gospel of Christ. It is apparent that this prophecy has been fulfilled.

The appearance of false Christ was also prophesied to be a sign of end times. Mathew 24:4-5, “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” False Christs have emerged and are deceiving people. These false Christs do not have the essence of Christ and they cannot proclaim the truth, but they claim that they are Christ. This has been seen in countries such as Japan, China, and South Korea. They imitate Jesus by doing some miracles.

The restoration of Israel was also prophesied to be a sign of end times. In Mathew 24: 32-33, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near: So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” Those who believe in God know that the fig tree’s tender leaves and branches describe the restoration of Israel. The bible tells us that when Israel is restored the Lord’s day will be closer. Israel was restored in 1948, thus the prophecy has been completely fulfilled.

So, the question is, what must we do before we can welcome the end times and the return of the lord? John 16: 12-13, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come.” Revelation, 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears My voice, and open the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with Me.” When God returns H will speak to the churches and tell us the truth we did not comprehend before. Those who will hear His speech and recognize His voice, accept and submit to Him will be welcomed and will attend “the feast of the lamb.” Those who will not recognize His voice will not be God’s sheep and God will eliminate them. This being the case it is apparent that when we are waiting for the second coming, we seek the Holy Spirit and learn to listen to God’s voice. In our next article, we will talk about, “where do we go to find the voice of God?”
